What clients noticed after the fieldwork

Comments reference specific engagements on this site. Voices vary — including one that wished we had pushed harder on vendor oversight.

“During the licence and controls audit they sat with settlement for two mornings before drafting findings. The ranked matrix named the broken hand-off between ops and finance, which our prior internal review had softened into ‘communication opportunity.’”

— Operations director, electronic payment institution · Taipei

“The AML health check sampling was slower than we hoped — we were not ready with redacted case notes on day one — but the disposition workshop changed how analysts write closures. Our second-line spot checks finally have something concrete to score.”

— Compliance manager, remittance programme · Kaohsiung

“For investor diligence we only needed the pre-diligence brief. It was blunt about our access review gaps. That honesty saved us from promising a control we could not evidence in the data room.”

— Co-founder, consumer lending fintech · Taichung

“Board pack assurance caught a mismatch between the AML slides and the operations appendix. Slight reservation: I wanted deeper challenge on our outsourced KYC vendor, which sat outside the agreed pack-only scope. Fair, but noted for next year.”

— Risk committee chair, stored-value issuer · Taipei

Extended story

Renewal window for a multi-corridor payment firm

A licensed payment institution approached us twelve weeks before renewal with three active corridors and a recent spike in reconciliation breaks. The licence and controls audit sampled onboarding across merchant risk bands, traced float reconciliations for the highest-volume corridor, and interviewed the vendor that handles overnight settlement files.

Findings centred on undocumented overrides and an ageing exception queue without an owner. Remediation started during fieldwork; the final board memo listed what had already closed versus what remained timed to the renewal date.
